Legislative Affairs

NAIOP members influence legislation that protects and advances the interests of all industry players, across the board through local, state and national political advocacy, including:

  • Professional lobbying and congressional testimony.
  • Participation in issue coalitions.
  • Keeping membership informed of changes to existing regulatory issues.
  • Building working relationships with local, state and national legislators, becoming a sounding board for new policy ideas.
  • Political support of industry-friendly members of Congress and candidates through the NAIOP-PAC.

 

Some of the local issues NAIOP is currently tracking include:

  •  Potential changes to the Transportation Development Fee ordinance in Cary
  • Comprehensive Plan, Fayetteville St.-University Land Use Plan, and Mixed Use Ordinance updates in Durham
  • Potential changes to the Stormwater ordinance in Durham
  • Establishment of a Unified Development Ordinance in Morrisville
  • Update to Raleigh’s Unified Development Ordinance
